The Yew shrubs grows fleshy red berries (called arils) with a toxic seed. The seeds are often very attractive to pets. These shrubs are very popular in landscaping due to their ability to grow in shade and become very thick for privacy.

Birds are also attracted to these plants for the berries and may leave large amounts of droppings. The droppings and the fallen berries mix together into a sticky mess. These droppings can carry disease and bacteria that could sicken your pet.
