Like Aspirin, it is easy to exceed toxic levels when administering Ibuprofen to dogs and cats and as such should be avoided as a canine pain remedy. Ibuprofen may cause bleeding stomach ulcers and eventually kidney failure and death.

Symptoms include loss of appetite, vomiting, vomiting (sometimes with blood), abdominal sensitivity, dehydration, and lethargy.
